Welcome to the ‘Mother City’- Cape Town at the foot of Table Mountain.
This multicultural and fascinating harbour city is the starting point of our 5,000 Km, 17 day motorcycle adventure to Victoria Falls – but not before you’ve had a chance to soak up the unique atmosphere, pick up your brand new BMW GS1200LC, meet with us and fellow tourers and have enjoyed an overnight stay in our 4 Star hotel right on the city’s famous waterfront before heading off into the breathtaking interior of Southern Africa for a trip of a lifetime
A new BMW GS1200LC with your name on it
Just a few miles west of Africa’s southernmost point (L’Agulhas) is Cape Town – a diverse, thriving and multi-facetted city located between the infamous Robben Island to the north and the Cape of Good Hope to the south. Renowned for its cross-cultural influences and incredible location, the city is second only to Jo’burg in size.
The imposing Table Mountain beckons with the promise of adventure in the interior, but not until tomorrow.
First, there’s a new BMW GS1200LC with your name on it to be claimed, sights to see, delicious fusion cuisine and craft beers to sample by the marina, fellow adventurers to meet and much more…
Having just picked up the bikes, the group stop off at the Marina on the way back to the hotel.
We can arrange extra nights in our 4 star waterfront hotel for you
Some clients like to arrive a few days early to get to know Cape Town better before we depart. That’s no problem – we can arrange extra nights in our 4 star waterfront hotel for you. And, as we know this city so well, we can give you lots of information on what to do with your time.and we’ll set it up for you.
On arriving in CapeTown, you’ll be met at the airport by our driver and brought to the hotel and your time is your own.
Later in the afternoon, we all meet in reception and travel the short distance to the bike depot where you’ll pick up your brand new BMW. Contracts are emailed in advance so that clients can bring them already completed, making handover quick and efficient – we know all you want to do is get on it!
Time to meet riders, pillions and 4X4 passengers
John, our riding guide will check over the bike with you and any adjustments can be made there and then.
We then all ride the short distance back to the hotel’s secure parking bay.
Once more, you’re free to enjoy this unique city, or just relax and enjoy the 4 star facilities at the hotel before we meet up in the hotel bar in the evening where riders, pillions and 4X4 passengers can get to know each other. Then the maps come out and anticipation builds as your hosts John and Su give a general tour briefing where we review the routes, itinerary and what you can expect en route. It’s the perfect time to ask questions.
Then it’s off to our reserved table in the hotel’s restaurant for a fine dinner. The table comes alive with conversations about what lies in store for the coming days – the sights we’ll see, the riding, routes, accommodation, the stop offs and highlights, and tales from our previous tours.
After a good breakfast the next morning, accompanied by our 4X4 backup vehicle packed with supplies, we ride out from the hotel along Chapman’s Peak Drive and on to the famous Cape of Good Hope. But that’s another story…
Flying in over Cape Town, the start of the adventure.
