Day 3, The border crossing of La Farga de Moles, Andorra & the Southern Pyrenees – 2 days biking

The second day we start with the 20kms on road back through the capital until we arrive at the border crossing of La Farga de Moles. Once through, we turn left, and on a road with many hairpin bends and sharp bends, we start our ascent to the highest point of this valley. Towards the end the road is lined by majestic trees which ends at La Rabassa the principal cross-country ski station in Andorra where we’ll take a short stop for a drink on the terrace.

Back on the trails, a further 80kms through the valleys, natural parks of this area and an area of small lakes brings us to our next lunch spot high in the mountains. A small mountain hotel with a nice garden area where we can enjoy a pre-lunch drink. In the winter this is a very popular place for cross-country skiing and the rest of the year welcomes walkers, bikers and us!

The food, excellent as usual, is complemented by the amazing views from their garden/terrace. Peacefully drinking our coffees out in the garden, you can admire the fabulous Sierra de Cadi mountain range, quite likely with a touch of snow still on its summits. For the last section of the day we ride our bikes toanother unattended frontier into Andorra, stop for another quick refreshment in La Rabassa before driving back to our hotel.

“My first experience of the Moto Aventures way of running bike tours. Absolutely fantastic! I loved everything about it, the bikes, the scenery, the accommodation, the company and the weather. All of it combined with Su and John's knowledge and expertise made this one of the best trips I had ever been on. My initial fears about my lack of off-road experience were very quickly discarded when we began our relaxed and expertly guided tour. A superb tour for those like me whom have had little off road experience. I left Andorra with a new found passion for off-road riding and such admiration for Su and John that I immediately booked my next adventure with them to South Africa.” – Gordon
