Victoria Falls to Cape Town 2010, Day 3

Limpopo to Pretoria. Border crossing on both sides went smoothly, again great natured immigration officers. Shortly after the border we stopped at the turn off to “the little patch of sand”. I do not like riding sand on big bikes, so I chose the alternate route or the “whimps” route. As it turned out the “little patch of sand” turned out to be “not so little”.

Arrived late afternoon at the overnight stay

A few people took a tumble, nothing serious and it was deemed the two “whimps” probably made the right decision. I must mention that a MotoAventures trip has route options and backup vehicles with a medic…very important! Rode past numerous game farms and saw the biggest Kudu bull ever. Arrived late afternoon at the overnight stay, really nice country club style accommodation.

“I must say I had concerns about making this trip as I am not the most experienced rider but the support and advice I got was 2nd to none. The whole trip was without fault; hotels, bikes, support. And when you realise what we got for the money paid - excellent value. Would I go again? 100% yes. Holiday of a life time.” – Austen Bromley

Article by Greg Jansen (a MotoAventures client)

Greg is a seasoned adventure motorcyclist with a lifelong passion for all things bike. He’s been lucky enough to turn that passion into a thriving business with the launch of his product ‘HelmetLok’ - the small, portable, keyless security product for crash helmets. With other products on offer as well, and distributors in Australia, the USA, Europe, South Africa and parts of Asia, amazingly Greg and his partner Janice still find time to tour!

Originally published on Greg’s website ‘’, this is Greg’s account of their second trip with us.

In his own words; “…sixteen days of the most spectacular roads through equally spectacular country, each day filled with wonderful surprises. A holiday of a lifetime is really an understatement!

So we approached our second trip with a little trepidation. How the hell are they going to better the last trip? In fact how could it possibly be any better? Here’s a diary of our trip.” …suffice to
