General Information and FAQs
If your question is not answered please email it to us.
1. How do I get there? – If you are on a tour starting in Ouarzazarte then there are three ways of getting there. You can either fly via Casablanca and then by domestic flight to Ouarzazarte (this is usually a late arrival) or you can fly to Marrakech and from there either be met by taxi/minibus and driven down (about 4 hours over the spectacular Tichka Pass), or opt for an extra days biking. (see below). There are several cheaper carriers now operating from Europe with destination Marrakech.
A selection of carriers worth checking out -
www.easyjet.com -UK
www.thomsonfly.com - UK
www.ryanair.com – UK and Girona, Spain
www.iberia.es (Click Air) – Spain
www.atlas-blue.com - France
www.royalairmaroc.com – most European countries.
www.britishairways.com – UK
2. Do I need any special vaccinations? – Morocco does not require any particular vaccinations, but we would recommend you speak with your own doctor before coming.
3. Should I bring cash or credit cards for spending money? – There are cash points in various locations throughout the tours. You can also exchange foreign currency in most of the hotels.
How much should I bring? – Enough to cover your bar bills and souvenirs. Beer costs 2 euros for a 33cl can and a bottle of local wine 13 euros.
4. Do I need a visa to enter Morocco? – At this time European passport holders do not require a visa, but it is advisable to check with your nearest Moroccan Embassy as things can change.
5. What identification do I need to bring? – Everyone visiting Morocco must have a passport with a minimum of 6 months to run at the time of entry.
6. What level of insurance is needed? – It is OBLIGATORY for all participants on our tours that they have full medical insurance with repatriation.
7. I have a little off road experience, would you recommend I get further? - To get the most from your tour experience with us we would recommend you get as much practice as possible, preferably on a KTM 450 like the ones we have. Check out Wheeldon Farm, based near Totnes in Devon which is a good place to do this, with both indoor and outdoor facilities. www.wheeldontwo.co.uk
Less experienced off roaders should also consider our more leisurely tours out of Essaouira with guidance and tuition if required.
8. Dehydration. I have heard this can be a problem? – Keeping yourself rehydrated whilst exercising in any hot climate is very important. We recommend you bring along some rehydration salts. These are available over the counter from all pharmacies. Rehydration/power drinks in powder form such as Isostar or lucozade are ideal.
9. What is the mobile phone coverage like? – Our clients are surprised to learn that mobile coverage in Morocco is better than the UK, though in the Atlas Mountains and Desert the coverage is very patchy.
10. What’s the crime situation in Morocco? – Generally only petty crime and it is opportunist. Leave your camera lying around and it could quite possibly go.
11. Do you supply biking clothing and protection? – On all our tours we supply all clothing and protection if required. There is a discount of 100 euros if at the time of booking you advise you will be bringing your own boots and helmet. (These must be MX/enduro style)
12. Can I do extra days of biking? – Yes.
13. Can you help me arrange extra nights accommodation? – Yes. Tell us what you require and we will give you a price and organize it for you.
14. My family/friends would like to do a parallel holiday but they are non-bikers. Can you suggest something? – With all our local knowledge acquired during the last 12 years of operating in Morocco, we can assist in organizing most of your requirements.
