Welcome to Motoaventures Offroad
Tired of piddly little trails, stroppy ramblers, locked gates and farmers with a grudge? Sick of the same old soggy scenery? Had it up to here with rules and route closures? What you need is Big Country dirt biking. What you need is a Moto Aventures trip through Morocco.
Let your imagination run riot. Imagine riding for miles and not seeing a soul. Imagine lingering over breakfast at 7,500 feet as the Moroccan sun rises over a crystal blue mountain lake. Imagine thundering up the pass of Tizi-Tirherouzine to a lunch stop in the clear mountain air above a view bigger than all of Hampshire. Imagine romping through the water-splashes of the gorge of Asif Agheddou. Imagine sand dunes bigger than St. Paul's cathedral. Imagine day after day with nothing to do but ride the best trails in creation. Imagine an experience so exotic it dwarfs the imagination.
Morocco is a land of surprises. To the locals it's al-Maghreb al-Aqsa -- 'The furthest land of the setting sun'. It's Saharan but snow-capped, African but French, Third World but First for brilliant trails. If you have never been out of Europe before, be prepared for a culture shock. The tours start in Ouarzazate, Marrakech or Essaouira, before moving into the wilderness of the Moroccan interior, peopled mainly by Berber tribesmen, the original inhabitants of this enchanted corner of Africa.
Our tours take in the towering peaks and winding pistes of the High Atlas Mountains; the plunging gorges and palm-fringed oases of the Saharan fringe; the broad open deserts of the Sahara itself; and the easier trails along the Atlantic coast. We offer a variety of itineraries: a 7-day Desert adventure; a 9 day Desert and Atlas Mountain tour; a 9 day dune special; a Beach Run from Marrakech to the Atlantic coast and our more leisurely tours based out of the fortified coastal town of Essaouira, all of which are 90% off-road!
A typical day's riding will take around eight hours. The going is not technically difficult, but can be quite challenging and strenuous. You certainly don't need to be a Paris-Dakar veteran, but for all our tours except those out of Essaouira, it is imperative you have reasonable experience of off-road riding and be fit and in good health.
Accommodation is in three and four-star hotels, all with swimming pools. This is usually the best available in any locality, but bear in mind that we are travelling through an unspoiled wilderness, so be prepared that the level of comfort won't always be to European standards. In our tours where we are in the desert , we spend at least one night in a Jaima (Berber tent). It is a fantastic way to appreciate and experience the total silence of the night, see how the sky is lit by thousands of stars and get a feel of real desert life.
All our accommodation is clean and comfortable, with shower facilities and surrounded by the most stunning scenery imaginable.
Morocco is politically stable, offering no special risks to the foreign traveller. As with all such destinations, however, it is important to respect the customs and way of life of the local people. For their part, they typically greet the passage of our tours with friendly amusement and delight.
All our bikes are the latest models and professionally maintained, so despite the rough terrain we are confident they will suffer no major problems. We feel sure that as temporary "owner" of our KTM, you will look after it as if it were your own and return it to us in good order. If the bike becomes unusable due to an accident then you could be doing the rest of the tour in the assistance vehicle, so please go carefully and take care of our bikes - and yourselves! We want you to go home having enjoyed yourselves to the maximum and with the feeling of having had a real adventure.
