Owned and run by John Griffiths and Su Downham, MOTO AVENTURES was set up in Andorra in 1996 as the result of an idea John had whilst
spending two winters biking across central Africa from London to Dar es Salaam.
Born in Tanzania, John worked for the 16 years
prior to Moto Aventures in the oil related diving business. He has paramedic training and experience, and safety (a highly
important issue in biking - one which is often not given sufficient attention) is one of his main concerns.
His job is to plan the routes using GPS, maintain “the fleet” to very high standards; co-ordinate guides etc., and generally
run all the operational side of the business.
Su has lived and worked in Andorra for over 20 years. She speaks English, Spanish, Catalan and French fluently and has considerable
experience in tourism and PR, as well as having run her own estate agency and building company in Andorra before Moto Aventures was
started.
She is responsible for all the administration and legal side of the company, finding and booking tour accommodation and arrangements for
meals etc., and generally making sure that all aspects of your holiday run smoothly and efficiently.
Since beginning offering our tours in Morocco we have had the assistance of our chief mechanic Houssein working on the bikes and
accompanying us on all our tours. He is a native of Ouarzazarte. This year as our fleet size has increased, he has been joined by
his brother Abdu. Both are very accomplished and experienced mechanics and a big asset to Moto Aventures.
In late 2006, MOTO AVENTURES AFRICA, was established in Morocco to enable us to offer more
tours and spend more time there. We have setup our main workshop base in Ouarzazarte as to date most of our tours start and finish
here.
In 2008 after 3 years supporting Moto Aventures and having enjoyed a great lifestyle, we were very sorry that Adam decided to leave to
further his flying career.
From late 2008 we will have another workshop/base in Essaouira as we are offering tours from Marrakech to the Atlantic, and also out of
Essaouira during the summer months. These have replaced our European tours which we stopped in 2007.
