Giving you the best ride of your life
Your safety is an extremely important issue to us and one that we have spent a lot of time and money investigating, so as to enable us to offer you the best possible service.
In Morocco we use the robust Garmin Montana 600, and in Southern Africa we use the Garmin Zumo 660, both with colour screens and 10,000 track points, and have one available (...)
In Morocco we have a fleet of KTM 450 Excs and a Honda Tornado for anyone wanting a less demanding motorbike. Southern African tours BMW GS1200 motorcycles. These are the ideal motorcycles for this adventure, but we can also offer GS800 if preferred (...)
When out on our tours, a mechanic always travels in our assistance vehicle, which also carries our medical equipment – such as vacuum stretcher, defibrillator, splints and oxygen, a very (...)
On all our adventures we choose the best accommodation available. Southern African is generally very luxurious lodges and tented camps, while off road in Morocco is 3* - 4* Kasbah style hotels and a night in our desert bivouac (...)
With nearly 20 years’ experience operating motorbike tours in Europe, Morocco and Southern Africa we have learnt much about all the places we take our guests to, as well as having built up solid networks of contacts and friends.
So, we booked another off-road experience with Motoaventures, this being our third in as many years. This time it was off to Andorra, and we flew in to Barcelona Airport and had a very small wait for our transfer (this being by AndorraBus and arranged by Motoaventures as part of the package) A very pleasant 3-hour journey through very picturesque scenery in a modern well-appointed mini-bus was fine and the time flew by.
We stayed at the Hotel Coma in Ordino and although slightly dated but very much in keeping, the rooms and welcome were first rate. Breakfast and evening meal is part of the package; however, I would factor in a few nights eating out as the evening meal menu is somewhat limited. We were met by Johnny and Su in the evening for a general welcome and de-brief, lubricated by a few well-earned beers.
The fun began at around 9am the next day, with the 5 ‘guests’ together with Jonny acting as guide set out. We all rode on Motoaventures well prepared and easily capable 2016 KTM EXC500’s, and given that a small proportion of the days out is on-road the RH rear view mirror was a welcome addition. Most days started with a short ride across the border to Spain and then up (and up) into the hills. The scenery can only be described as breath-taking, the regular stops to enjoy the view and receive a bit of local history made the experience more enjoyable. The riding would easily suit any rider with a small amount of off-road experience, however I got the distinct impression that our guide tailors the route to suite the team’s ability. There was some gnarly bits but nothing impossible or dangerous. Our trip was towards the back end of May 2017, which meant that there was still snow on the mountains and this just has to be played in. The riding will suit all but the most hard-core enduro rider, and would best be described as very long ‘green-laning’
Each day at around 1pm the team stops at a local restaurant / café, pre-booked by Motoaventures so a seat, table and great food is guaranteed. Every riding day you’re treated to the very best in local cuisine and this is an experience to savour, the amount and quality of food is amazing. This is further enhanced by stunning locations and warm welcome so don’t expect a fast food experience – this is holiday dining at its best. After a long lazy lunch its back to the trails and to fabulous site seeing, that is if you can manage to lift yourself back onto the bike. Relax and enjoy, that is the order of the day!
Every morning (after breakfast) you’ll find the bikes prepared (and repaired if necessary) and ready for another day in hill over Andorra. Hats off to all at Motoaventures for another thoroughly thought out and executed biking experience – I cannot recommend it highly enough.
- Andorra & the Southern Pyrenees - 5 days biking Off Road
Last chance to join a tour biking around this spectacular countryside on one of our 6 KTMs. Mountains, river crossings, through forests and national parks, with amazing long lazy lunches taken in small mountain restaurants totally off the beaten track. - substantial local soups, paella or selections of grilled meats presented on stone slates are just some of the tasty dishes you can try, washed down with sangria - "red wine and casera". Evenings relax in the friendly hotel bar or wander 5 minutes down the road to a cafe in the village of Ordino.
